The Southern Communications room is based at the Police HQ at Hutton, Preston.

The team handles external telephone calls for all police stations in the area, including Chorley, Leyland and Skelmersdale. In a month, on average, it handles around 3,500 calls through the 999 operator and 18,000 non-emergency calls.
