Activity week for Blackpool’s youths
AN ACTION-PACKED activity week has been organised for young people across the Fylde coast.
The week, hosted by Lancashire Constabulary, will be held between Monday 9 August and Friday 13 August at Stanley Park in Blackpool. There will be activities taking place daily between 12pm and 4pm.
A wide range of activities have been organised in conjunction with Blackpool Council, BSafe Blackpool and the Friends of Stanley Park including athletics, fishing, football coaching, skateboarding, BMX biking, an assault course and boxing.
There will also be a spitfire plane on display during the week along with displays from a graffiti artist, road safety, the fire service and the ambulance service.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) for Marton and Stanley Park Aneta Turner, who is part of the team organising the event, said: “We have an action-packed week of activities planned which should hopefully provide the young people of Blackpool with something to do during the summer holidays.
“Young people often tell us that they have nothing to do with their spare time so we organised this week in response to their requests for things to do.
“These sort of events not only provide something positive for the young people to do but they help the police and other agencies build relationships with them, providing a positive input into their development.”
The activities for the week are all free of charge and if people want to join in the fun, they should just turn up on the day. There will be a booking office located on the park where the youngsters can book onto the activities that they wish to partake in on a daily basis.
